“YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN” RETURNS TO THE GATEWAY STAGE
The Gateway Foundation For Theatre and Dance is pleased once again to present the musical comedy “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the comic strip ‘Peanuts’ by Charles Schulz. “We had so much fun with it in 2005, some of the cast from that year agreed to do it again,” says Janet Dixon, Theatre Chairwoman. Fun for the whole family, this lighthearted play portrays a day in the life of Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang.
Three of the cast members are returning from the 2005 production: Alex Lystrup, Teaira Burge, and Steven McKee are cast as Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Schroeder, respectively. Additional cast members are Rachel Farnsworth as Sally, Kyle Terry as Linus, and Bryan Atkins as Snoopy.
Rachel and Kyle are new to the Gateway Foundation’s stage, and they are excited to explore the children’s characters. When asked what they most enjoy about their characters, Rachael (Sally) says, “I get to be in my own little world as Sally; it’s fun to be a child again.” Kyle (Linus) gets to suck his thumb throughout the performance. Teaira observes that as a child—like her character Lucy—she had a similar conviction of greatness: “Of course I’m going to be a queen someday!” Bryan says of his character Snoopy, “At one moment he’s a flying ace and the next moment he’s a dog and wants to bite somebody.”
The show is directed by Janet Dixon, music is directed by Dana Atkins; choreography by Lacey Dixon; adjudication by Geoffrey Bennett, piano accompaniment by the talented and energetic David Bowman.
